For a very long time, Americans who are increasingly facing low provides and high costs have been heading north to buy their prescribed drugs at stores in Canada. Like several alternative countries, Canada’s prescription drugs, like the prescribed drugs of every industrialized nation except for the United States, are kept relatively inexpensive due to price controls.

The FDA is in step with the PRMA, though it is equally obscure in assertions that buying prescription drugs in Canada is dangerous. In an interview with Kiplinger’s, William Hubbard, the FDA’s associate commissioner for policy and learning, stated “We recognize there are sensible medicine and bad medicine in Canada, but we have a tendency to can’t tell you which of them ones are which.”

The fact is, most Canadian pharmaceuticals don’t seem to be FDA approved, however Canadian food and drug standards are reminiscent of those of the United States’, and therefore the argument that Canadian pharmaceuticals are unsafe, remains fairly unsupported. Therefore so much, the stream of Yankee patrons seems to indicate the assumption that purchasing prescribed drugs from a reputable Canadian drug store is solely dangerous to the large Yank pharmaceutical corporations who have a vested interest keep drug prices high.
